Description
McLachlan, R.W. THE MONEY OF CANADA FROM THE HISTORICAL STAND POINT. Montreal, (1915). Original typescript on plain paper, extensively revised in ink in the author's hand with his autograph at the end. (1), 2–14, 14–28 sheets. Twenty-nine standard pure linen sheets in all (approximately 16.5 by 20.5 cm), printed and written on one side only. First page a little dusty. Unique. The "President's Address," delivered before the Royal Society of Canada at Ottawa in May 1915, published separately with illustrations in the Transactions of the Royal Society of Canada and subsequently reprinted in the December 1915 issue of The Numismatist. Most, though not all, of the manuscript revisions were incorporated into The Numismatist article, with stylistic and occasional other changes. An important overview. Bowman 15. CNB unlisted. Ex Château de Ramezay Library, Montreal, without specific identifying marks; ex Kolbe Sale 61, lot 596; ex Joseph Foster Library; ex Richard Cooper Library.
